Abby Fite began working at the LGBT Resource Center in October 2013. Prior to beginning this position, Abby graduated with a BA in psychology with minors in religion and education from Vassar College. After college, Abby spent two years as an AmeriCorps member in Rochester, NY, coordinating and implementing community-based educational programming at some of the city’s nonprofit organizations. Abby’s contributions to the LGBT Resource Center include facilitating educational presentations and trainings, including Basics and Safer People, Safer Spaces; supervising the student staff; coordinating communications; managing the budget; co-facilitating New 2 ‘Quse, a discussion group for students new to SU/SUNY-ESF or the LGBTQA campus communities; and co-coordinating annual events, including the LGBTQA Student Social, Coming Out Month, the HoliGay, Trans Day of Liberation, and the Rainbow Banquet. Abby’s interests include intersectional feminism, healthy intimate relationship development, representations of gender & sexuality in the media, and ally development within and beyond campus. When she’s not at the RC, Abby enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with friends and dogs.
