CAS 100/ ETS 200 Alternative Kinship
|
|
|
Americans typically assume that nuclear families
represent authentic, mature adulthood. Adults who reside in
non-traditional households and rely on friendship networks
challenge traditional adulthood. This course centers on
depictions of ?alternative? kinship systems in popular culture.

Talk2me2knowme
|
|
|
Talk2me2knowme is a diversity dialogue program
hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. We anticipate up
to 1000 students participating in this annual program.
Talk2me2knowme will challenge students to take a stand on
their beliefs, and in return be willing to listen and empathize
with others before questioning them. The talk2me2knowme t-
shirt is an invitation to engage in this form of honest
dialogue. Those who wear the shirt should be willing to be
initiators and active participants in dialogue. Dialogues can
focus on a variety of issues such as but not limited to racism,
sexism, classism, religious diversity, alcohol and drugs,
interpersonal violence, sexual assault, homophobia, global
terrorism, anti-Semitism, and ableism. When you wear this
shirt on November 6, 7, 8, or 9 you must talk to at least 5
people who appear to be different from you racially or
ethnically. Please review the attachment to learn more about
the upcoming events.
