Open Letter from Minnie Bruce Pratt
|
|
|
I and other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
activists working with the New York Free the Cuban 5
Committee very much hope that you will sign on to the call
below for "Rainbow Solidarity for the Cuban Five." The
Cuban Five are political prisoners held by the United States
government for the "crime" of trying to stop U.S.-based
terror attacks against Cuba. U.S. courts recently denied the
ruling for a new trial. With this call we hope to re-invigorate
outrage at the targeting and continued imprisonment of these
political prisoners.

gay and lesbian couples the same rights as marriage but

Call for submissions, beyond masculinity
|
|
|
Essays by Queer Men on Gender and Politics: Gay,
bisexual, transgender, and queer men's gender identities
often exist somewhere outside the traditional categories of
"masculine" and "feminine." Sissies, drag queens, and
leather daddies alike play with gender in a way that cannot
be accounted for in traditional understandings of maleness.
This collection -- part blog, part anthology, part audiobook --
aims to shatter traditional understandings of maleness and
point towards a new understanding of how queerness and
gender intersect.

GPAC Denounces Attack, Police Investigation in Male Student Singers' Assault
|
|
|
WASHINGTON (January 16, 2007) ? Singing a cappella,
wearing blazers, donning neck ties ... not exactly stuff of
"real men" -- and the apparent motivation behind a New
Year's Eve attack in San Francisco on a visiting all-male
singing group from Yale University that left three seeking
hospital treatment for injuries ranging from a concussion to a
broken jaw. No arrests have been made since the attack took
place two weeks ago.

Gays don't tell docs about orientation
|
|
|
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Only a minority
of gay, lesbian or bisexual teenagers tell doctors about their
sexual orientation, RAND Corporation researchers said. Even
though 70 percent of the individuals were aware of their
orientation as teens, just 35 percent told their doctors. "We
were surprised by these results," said Garth Meckler,
assistant professor of emergency medicine and pediatrics
with the Oregon Health and Science University, Portland. "We
figured they would have a higher disclosure rate than most
youth, and yet, despite being out to almost everyone in their
lives, only 35 percent had told their doctor about their sexual
orientation."
