On Being a Gay Parent: Making a Future Together

By Brett Webb-Mitchell

The long-awaited On Being a Gay Parent by Brett Webb-Mitchell finally arrives in bookstores this month. It's a must-read for every LGBT person who either has or is contemplating children, as well as those extended family members and friends who support LGBT-led families. While the process of resolving issues related to child rearing rarely turns on the sexuality of parents, due to challenges imposed on the same-sex households there are some questions that are peculiar to these families.

Webb-Mitchell's new guide offers advice drawing on his years as a gay dad and promises to address issues including:
How to come out to your kids
· What to call either "Moms" or "Dads"
· Navigating the school system and the challenges your children might face there
· How the law around civil unions and same-sex marriages deals with children's issues
· Surviving the holiday, when complicated family structures typically get more so
· And much more

From running a household to handling a parent- teacher conference, and with an extensive resource section at the back, On Being a Gay Parent will answer the question you haven't even thought to ask.

For further information about upcoming book readings and signings, as well as other events around the publication of this new book (an interview with Frank Stasio's "The State of Things" on NPR in December), visit www.onbeingagayparent.com regularly.

The publisher of the book is Seabury Books. Information for this book may be obtained either by phone 1-800-242-1918, or www.churchpublishing.org, ISBN 978-1-59627-061- 9
